There are a number of options for eating out on St. Mary’s and across the islands. In Hugh Town and in Old Town there are restaurants and pubs to choose from in the evenings, as well as hotels which offer dinners for non-residents.
In Hugh Town, you can enjoy evening meals at The Galley, Dibble & Grub and Pilot’s Gig and at any of the three pubs. The Spirit Restaurant at St. Mary’s Hall Hotel, the Dining Room at Star Castle, and Tregarthen’s Hotel all offer excellent evening out options to non-residents. In Old Town, head to Old Town Inn for pub grub or the newly opened Coastal View Kitchen overlooking Old Town Bay.
During the day, you will find cafes not just in Hugh Town, such as Kavorna, Dibble & Grub and Strudel in Town, but up country too, including our very own Kaffeehaus! Other options include Juliet’s Garden overlooking Porthloo with views out to the harbour; Carn Vean close to Pelistry, the very family friendly Longstone Lodge & Café and Old Town Café to name a few.
During the season, there are supper boats every night (weather permitting) to St Agnes were you can eat out at the local pub or enjoy a very special meal at High Tide. And a few times a week there are supper boats to the other islands too – so you can get delicious fish and chips on St. Martin’s, dine out in style on Tresco or delight in the pop up Crab Shack on Bryher.
Wherever you eat, look out for the local Taste of Scilly marque – restaurants, cafes and pubs that support local producers and use locally sourced food where they can.
