“Well”, I said to Emma, as we cleared away the remains of breakfast-for-22 at 10am, “if it’s quieter later, I’ll interview you for the blog”. “OK”, she said. At 6pm we got the last dishes in the dishwasher, gave the floor a last mop, and headed out to look for a nice cool patch of beach. Dunno about Emma, but I was glad to get my feet into Scilly’s chilly water! No interviews today, then.

It’s been great to be able to offer a few different gluten-free choices this year, including carrot cake, parsnip cake, and lemon potato cake as well as our traditional standby the chocolate Russian cake!
Can you believe we are half-way through the season? It feels like we’re just warming up! It’s been glorious summer for several weeks now though and the cafe and the guesthouse have been busy with comings and goings, sausages frying in the morning, soups and strudels through the day. To celebrate having made it this for and got ourselves together as a team, we went out to the Ruin Beach Cafe – how many other places would you get a boat to another island for an evening dinner?
